This is counted by our own software running on this website. It sets no cookie, it runs for every visitor whether or not you accept analytics cookies, and a visit is not linked to you or joined up across days.
If you click ‘Accept analytics’ in the cookie notice, we also use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to count visits and see which pages are read, which countries visits come from, and which websites or searches sent them. Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address in a readable form. We do not use its advertising features or Google signals, and we do not sell this information. If you decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
We do not attempt to identify users or their browsing activities unless required by a law enforcement agency exercising a warrant to inspect our service provider’s logs.
Ordinary visitors get one cookie from us, eipl_consent, which remembers for twelve months whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies. Only if you accept does Google Analytics 4 set its own cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last for up to two years. There is no advertising cookie of any kind. You can change your choice at any time through ‘Cookie settings’ at the foot of every page; if you withdraw, Google Analytics stops loading and we remove its cookies from your browser.
The only other cookies we set are for EIPL staff and invited reviewers who sign in to the private tools on this site. Those cookies are strictly necessary for that sign-in, hold nothing beyond the sign-in token itself, and expire after one year or as soon as the access is withdrawn.

When you send us one of the forms on this site, the details you enter are stored in our database and emailed to us. A job application may include a CV or other attachment; that file is stored with the application. Form mail is delivered through Resend, our email provider.
So that applications are read promptly, a CV sent through the careers form, together with the city, joining date, salary expectation and message typed into the form, is passed to Anthropic’s API, an artificial intelligence service, which returns a short written assessment against the role for our team to read. The text of the CV may also be passed to TypeSafe AI’s API, a second artificial intelligence service, together with the role and department you applied for; it returns scores on a few job-related measures, such as the kind of industrial sites you have worked at and the level of responsibility you have held. TypeSafe processes this information in the United States and may keep a copy under its own retention terms. These requests are sent through OpenRouter, a service based in the United States that passes them on to Anthropic and TypeSafe. The name, email address, phone number, city and salary expectation you type into the form are not sent to TypeSafe, although your CV itself may contain some of them. Both assessments are advisory only — nothing on this site accepts or rejects an application automatically, and every application is read by a person. Before a CV's text is sent to either service, our own software checks Word and OpenDocument files for common kinds of hidden or invisible formatting and removes what it finds; this check does not catch every technique, and PDF files are passed to Anthropic unchanged.
We keep enquiries and applications for as long as they are needed for the purpose they were sent for. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, contact us using the details on this website.
